SHAPESHIFTING LANDMARK
Drift Om Te Dansen, a festival known for its dynamic electronic music and immersive atmosphere, asked me to create a sculptural centrepiece for their Elektra Stage. The brief was to design a recognisable landmark for the festival, while feeling at home within the industrial setting of De Vasim in Nijmegen.
Built from layers of lightweight translucent material, the kinetic sculpture reveals and conceals itself as it rotates, shifting from solid and imposing to almost invisible depending on where you stand. Light moves through the structure, creating constantly changing patterns and optical illusions. The result is a shapeshifting landmark designed to change with the music, the light and the people around it.
