BENEATH THE WAVES
Imagine an eerie descent underwater, beneath the waves. Ocean Bloom invites visitors to
explore spatial sound as a medium for accessing hearing underwater. Using sound holograms
as dimensional objects in space, the work invites visitors to experience spatial depth and
dimensionality in all directions, as in an underwater sonic environment. With this site specific
intervention, the artists seek to address the possibility of uncomfortable sounds and
disturbances to overcome decentralization of human primacy, opening up to nonhuman and
material agencies. At a time when sound pollution is exploding with the advent of modern day
activities in the Sea, Ocean Bloom tries to put things in perspective by using sophisticated audio
engineering and programmable light sculptures.
